The appearance of the abdominal section of the body can be refined and contoured using surgical procedures.

Surgery of the Abdomen
(Abdominoplasty, Panniculectomy or "Tummy Tuck")

Generally referred to as a "tummy tuck", Abdominoplasty removes excess fat and skin from the abdomen. The procedure also helps to flatten the abdomen by tightening the surrounding muscles. Women with stretched abdominal areas due to previous pregnancies or massive weight loss can benefit considerably from abdominoplasty, although they should have completed their childbearing. Older individuals whose skin has lost some of its elasticity and are slightly obese can experience an improvement in their abdominal area.

If you are in generally good physical shape but are concerned about abdominal fat deposits or loose skin that does not respond to diet and exercise, this procedure can potentially reduce or even eliminate a protruding abdomen.  Abdominoplasty can produce a permanent scar which can possibly extend to both sides of your hips, although most often the scar will be located below the bikini or bathing suit line.

Liposuction
(Lipoplasy / Suction Lipectomy
)
Among the most popular cosmetic surgery procedures is liposuction (also known as "lipoplasty" or "suction lipectomy"). This procedure does so by sculpting the body by removing undesirable fat from various areas, such as around the thighs, knees, buttocks, waist, hips, abdomen, chin, cheeks, neck and upper arms. Ultrasound-assisted liposuction (UAL), tumescent technique and the super-wet technique are among the various techniques used to provide precise results.

*Liposuction is not a substitute for a healthy diet and exercise, but the procedure can eliminate areas of fat that are unresponsive to typical weight-loss methods.

Body Lift
A body lift, broken in to its components, usually includes an abdominoplasty (tummy tuck), thigh and buttocks lift. This combination of procedures removes excess skin from weight loss due to bariatric surgery or natural weight loss methods. The body lift can be done in one surgical session, or in stages, depending on a patient's needs.

Thigh Lift
The effects of time, gravity and major weight loss can cause the skin of the inner and outer thigh to lose tone. This loss of tone can cause the skin to sag or lose the smooth appearance of an earlier age. In general, the inner thighs are affected earlier than the outer thighs. Along with sagging skin, the thighs can be an area of fat collection. Excessive fat can produce an unpleasant contour. For many individuals, in particular women, the fatty deposits do not respond to weight loss or exercise. Liposuction alone can improve the contour of the thighs when skin tone is good and excessive fat is the primary problem. The thigh lift procedure usually involves both liposuction and the removal of excessive skin from either the inner or outer thigh or both.
